Birla Corporation Limited has pioneered the utilisation of jute felt for automotive applications. Since 1994 its Auto Trim Division has been outfitting major Indian cars with natural fibre-based interiors. The technology was acquired through a technical collaboration with Empe-Werke of Germany. Empe's proven expertise in this particular field have come in handy to manufacture molded jute fibre reinforced door trims.

With in-house expertise and captive resources, combined with skilled manpower, to accommodate fast changing technical developments. Today, the division is supplying automotive interiors based on one-step technology using JUPPBOARD (Jute-PP felt) and Polypropelene / Polyethylene foam backed covering, produced in-house. The technology is cost effective. While the price is comparable to iinjection moulded parts, it has advantages like recyclabilites, safety and many more. The Auto Trim Division, with its three plants, is fully equipped to satisfy customers requirement.

 
Its proven production process boosted by non-stop R&D exercise, has been meeting the requirement for upgraded Interiors, maintaining it's ranking in the race with global players who are now in India.
